Translation:-Due to uncontrolled eagerness to hear the glories of the supreme lord the sages expresses the dissatisfaction of their soul in this verse.
We performed austerities, fire sacrifices and dont want to do them any more.
But we do not achieve satisfaction after hearing more and more the pastimes of the lord who is uttamaśloka. And want to hear again and again.
uttamāḥ means which is devoid of darkness like ignorence, and who is glorified by hymns which are uttamāḥ is known as uttamaśloka. So only the supreme lord can be uttamaśloka.
Why they feels to hear more and more about the pastimes of the lord ?
To answer this it is stated that—yad bikramaṃ śṛṇbatām The word tu is used to indicate that others may not wants to hear repetedly but  we dont get satisfaction by hearing once.
One may thinks this is enough, when his stomach get filled, or when he cannot tastes the necters, or in absence of interests in the knowable things.
tatra śṛṇbatāma may means like the sky is never filled, our ears are also never filled by hearing the glories of the supreme lord. And always remain eager to hear more and more. The sky can be indicated by the word śrotra.
Here he gave an example— one who chews sugarcane gets one type of rasa not others,  so after some time he get satisfied. But the pastimes of the supreme lord is giver of ever new rasas at each time.  So one cannot be satisfied.
